Catherine Brown joined Arthur Andersen & Co Chartered Accountants in London after obtaining a degree in Economics and Accounting from Newcastle University. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant and gaining experience in group and international company audits she moved to Ladbroke Group Plc to work within their internal audit department. Here she developed her managerial skills, designed systems to ensure financial controls across multi site operations were adhered to and gained experience in the acquisition of new businesses.
In 1995 she became head of internal audit for Hilton International where she developed their audit and business risk strategies to enable sound internal financial internal controls on a global scale.
Having taken time out to have a family Catherine returned to work in a practice where she used her previous knowledge and experience of multi national and/or million turnover businesses and applied them to owner managed business who would otherwise not have access to this level of expertise.
Whilst working in Bedfordshire she became proficient in personal tax and accounts for unincorporated businesses as well as applying her audit knowledge and skills to small charities.
She moved to us in 2007 and continued to work with local businesses offering advice on compliance issues including tax and statutory accounts as well as being able to identify ways of improving both systems and profitability to businesses owners.
She now also specialises in LLPs, Solicitors Reports and School Academies.
In her spare time Catherine enjoys playing golf and tennis and is a member of her local WI.
